One of the most complex aluminium joinery jobs in institutional architecture in New Zealand and believed to be the largest double glazed building in the country, valued at $46 million.

The Curtainwall system was specifically designed for this project by Alutech in conjunction with Facade Design Services. The system allows for the use of mill finish mullions and transoms to be installed at an early stage of construction with thermally separated internal cappings applied later. The Curtainwall is a “flushglaze” system with structural vertical joins incorporating expressed horizontals, the bulk of the profiles then projecting back inside the building.

High specification double-glazed tinted glass panels using a “Low E” coating were used along with sandblasted panels. Included in the project Alutech supplied 600mm-wide sun fins and specially designed awning windows. These are electronically controlled in response to computerised tracking of environmental conditions. The contract also called for Vantage.

Magnum doors, Vantage 100mm shopfront suite and drained glazing bars to the skylights. The Alpolic composite cladding was also supplied and installed by Alutech.
