Weir Walker Architecture, Hawkins Construction

This 40 metre high building is the South Island’s first ‘5 Green Star Rated’ office project and comprises a high proportion of recycled and environmentally rated building products. Alutech worked closely with the project designer and ADNZ member Robert Weir in thermal modeling of the various suites and configurations that were called for to achieve the NZGBC Green Star rating target, with extensive detailing of the junctions between the windows and the unusually large number of building elements that were included in the Club Tower envelope. This was not a straightforward monolithic curtainwall with ‘one-size-fits-all’ detailing.

To achieve conformity, visual and thermal standards the project uses the follow Architectural Profiles extrusions:

• 150mm Structural Glaze system
• 158mm Architectural Series
• 40mm Series/40mm Chair frame
• 100mm Flushglaze
• IGU’s – 6mm Sunergy Green low-E/12mm gap Argon filled/Clear glass, Spandral Panels incorporate High performance IGU’s with Tempaclad to the inner pane.

Hawkins Construction Project Manager, Paul Youngman was quoted in Builders Contractors magazineas saying that “Alutech were a pleasure to work with. Their attention to detail was some of the best I’ve seen” Alutech were grateful for the assistance of the following Consultants and Subcontractors:
